Builder Approval Requirements

To participate in the USDA construction loan program, builders must meet specific requirements set by USDA Rural Development. Our team guides you through the approval process to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.

Valid General Contractor License

Builders must hold a current, valid general contractor license in the state(s) where they intend to build. License must be in good standing with no disciplinary actions.

Proof of Insurance

General liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage are required. Minimum coverage amounts apply per USDA Rural Development guidelines.

Financial Stability Documentation

Builders must demonstrate financial stability through business financial statements, bank references, and a satisfactory credit history for the business entity.

Construction Experience

A minimum of two years of residential construction experience is required, with documentation of completed projects and references from previous clients.

USDA Builder Agreement

Approved builders must sign the USDA Builder/Contractor Agreement, agreeing to comply with all program requirements, construction standards, and inspection protocols.
